Wooden sculpture of Ba

The ancient Egyptians believed that a soul (ka/ba) was made up of many parts. This wooden sculpture represents the ba, this aspect of the soul was depicted as a bird with a human head, in this form the deceased could travel throughout the earth and the afterlife.
